Company was a pioneer in Live Line Maintenance in Ultra High Voltage and obtaining ISO 56.002 for Innovation in the energy sector

State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH) has just published the SGBH 2022 Sustainability Report. This is the second Sustainability Report presented by SGBH, and was produced in accordance with the requirements of the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) and the Green Bond Principles (GBP).

The report presents the results of the 100% companies controlled by SGBH (19 concessionaires plus the service company, State Grid Serviços de Engenharia – SGSE), in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2022 and includes efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), part of the commitment made by SGBH as a signatory to the UN Global Compact, a commitment that it assumed as of 2022. In addition, throughout the past year, the company allocated approximately R$ 17 million in activities related to Biodiversity Conservation and Social Investments.

 – In 2022, we faced many challenges and learned lessons. We structured the Company in its Governance dimension, taking the best global corporate practices as a reference. We created the One State Grid concept, with principles and conduct to be followed by employees and leaders in an integrated manner, in the search for cohesive and collective solutions, prioritizing common goals. We reviewed our Strategic Planning; carried out our first fundraising through green debentures; and became signatories to the UN Global Compact. We were pioneers in the application of Live Line Maintenance technology (i.e., in operation) in Ultra High Voltage and in obtaining the ISO 56.002 certificate for Innovation in the energy sector – says Mr. Sun Tao, chairman of State Grid Brazil Holding.

Among the important achievements throughout 2022, we highlight the raising of R$235 million in financial resources through green bonds for the installation of Silvânia Transmissora de Energia (STE), which has an estimated total cost of R$476 million. With a contract formalized in May 2021, and an installation license approved in April 2022 for a 30-year concession, the STE Transmission Line is in the implementation phase.

Another relevant step taken by the company was the preparation of the Inventory of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from SGBH's activities, highlights the chairman:

 – Taking inventory of greenhouse gas emissions is the first step to understanding who we are in relation to climate change. We have just completed an audit of scopes 1, 2 and 3 and were successful. From there, we can create effective mitigation actions aimed at this important global objective – highlights Sun Tao.

Mr. Sun Tao also emphasizes that adherence to the values of the UN Global Compact demonstrates the company's mission to transmit energy in a sustainable, reliable and transparent manner. A journey that is made every day, reinforcing the company's commitment to the future:

 – The year 2022 represented a period of transition and preparation for the future. Having completed the 2023-27 Strategic Planning integrating the ESG pillars, SGBH is now reinforcing its long-term vision to remain among the most relevant companies in the energy transmission segment in the country.
