In May 2021, State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH) signed the concession contract taking over a new lot in the Brazilian Midwest, aiming to reinforce the security and reliability of energy transmission in the metropolitan region of Goiânia.
The asset in question refers to Lot 1 of Auction No. 01/2020-ANEEL, approved by the regulatory agency in the Official Gazette of the Union on April 26, 2021. To fulfill this new contract, SGBH established the company Silvania Transmissora de Energia SA (STE), a Special Purpose Company responsible for contracting all works, guarantees, financing and construction services, as well as for the entire operation during the 30 years of the concession in the state of Goiás.
The main 500 kV transmission line connects the existing Trindade Substation and the Silvânia Substation, which is yet to be built, over a 158 km stretch. Connection sections will also be built with the 500 kV Samambaia-Emborcação LT, which is 10.4 km long, and with the 500 kV Samambaia-Itumbiara LT, which is 13.5 km long. All of the structures are located in the state of Goiás, crossing the following municipalities: Trindade, Goianira, Santo Antônio de Goiás, Brazabrantes, Nova Veneza, Goiânia, Nerópolis, Terezópolis de Goiás, Goianápolis, Bonfinópolis, Leopoldo de Bulhões, Silvânia and Luziânia.
The environmental licensing process is being conducted by the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development of Goiás (SEMAD/GO) through the Ipê System. The project was classified as Class 5 – Construction of electric power transmission lines (greater than 138 kV), and no public hearings are required. Any necessary changes to the route will be communicated to the environmental licensing agency (SEMAD/GO), in accordance with state legislation.
In order to implement the transmission line, it is necessary to release the areas necessary for its implementation, with the establishment of the administrative easement strip, which aims to enable construction activities and, subsequently, its maintenance and operation. This work is carried out by a technical team specialized in land issues, whose objective is to identify in person the areas necessary for release, make contact with the owners and/or occupants and agree on the payment of compensation for the restrictions on land use caused by the passage of the project.
The company XPTT Brasil Construção de Sistemas de Energia Elétrica Ltda was contracted for the works on the Transmission Line; and CET Brazil Transmissão de Energia Ltda for the works on the new Silvânia Substation and installation of equipment in the existing Trindade Substation.
With an investment of R$420 million over 48 months, the project is expected to generate around 1,500 direct and indirect jobs in the region, in addition to providing for the contracting of local goods and services. In addition, the new system ensures greater reliability for the state's energy supply and is in line with State Grid Brazil's mission to offer top-quality electricity transmission systems to all Brazilians.
Questions about the project or any issues related to its implementation can be clarified by the Silvânia-Trindade Transmission System Ombudsman by email [email protected], or by phone 0800-591-8012, from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm. The SEMAD/GO Green Line contact number is 0800-646-2112.
