Power transmission company is responsible for 10 % of the country's assets
Despite the difficulties arising from the pandemic, which forced many companies to hold back on hiring and implement reductions in working hours and salaries, State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH) joined forces to overcome this situation and invested in new professionals, promotions and online training, in addition to expanding benefits, offering remote emotional and health support during the quarantine.
The company made every effort to maintain its employees' working hours and maintained its positions during the pandemic. Instead of reducing its workforce, it hired 75 employees in the seven months from March to September and still has approximately 50 open positions. SGBH expects to reach the end of the year with approximately 800 employees, an increase of 10% compared to the end of 2019.
Remote work and online admissions
Adapted to the new reality of working from home, the work routine was maintained, and the company invested R$3.2 million in measures to prevent and combat COVID-19, including office renovations, visual communication, equipment purchases, routine exams, and coronavirus testing. "The company has a long-term vision for investing in Brazil, and we believe in the economic recovery. Therefore, we did not interrupt our HR processes during the pandemic. We maintained our hiring schedule, and since March, contact with candidates, interviews, and the hiring process itself have been conducted virtually. We sent work equipment, and even the onboarding process (integration of new employees) was moved online, allowing us to maintain the normal flow of activities and maintain productivity," says Leandro Morosini, Administrative Director of SGBH, responsible for the company's Human Resources department.
Some actions developed by SGBH during the pandemic:
Performance-based salary adjustment program – Program in which the employee receives a merit-based salary increase or career promotions based on performance.
Training – More than 14,000 hours of classes and around 500 people trained in technical, health and safety, and behavioral areas.
Leadership Development Program – From July to December, SGBH's management team, at all levels of leadership, is being trained and prepared for the company's growth challenges.
"Essential is your Energy" Communication Program – Weekly employee engagement, motivation, and integration program featuring an exclusive online platform, podcasts, virtual events such as museum visits, happy hours, talent shows, and cooking workshops, among others.
