State Grid Brazil carries out action together with the Unidos pela Vacina movement

Donation includes vaccination support materials and personal protective equipment

State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH), through the Unidos pela Vacina movement, has formalized a cooperation agreement to donate approximately R$$ 600,000 in equipment and supplies for vaccination and other response efforts in this final phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. The materials will be sent to the municipality of Paracambi, Rio de Janeiro, where the company operates through the Rio Terminal Substation, which receives energy transmitted from the Belo Monte plant in Pará. In total, the company has invested over R$$ 11 million since 2020, including donations and internal pandemic response efforts.

The project will be implemented with resources from the Social Investments in Companies (ISE) line of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES). Materials are currently being purchased, with delivery scheduled for October or November. The equipment list includes cold rooms, refrigerators, a generator, thermal boxes, thermometers, as well as supplies and personal protective equipment. All items will be delivered to the Paracambi City Hall, which will allocate them to the city's SUS healthcare units.

"We understand the importance of vaccination and pandemic control efforts and are pleased to be able to contribute. State Grid Brazil understands its role in contributing to the development of Brazilian society. In addition to our commitment to ensuring the transmission of clean and safe energy from the North to the Southeast of the country, allocating this equipment and materials to Paracambi demonstrates our special attention to the communities surrounding our operations," said Ricardo Felix, Director of Health, Safety, and Environment at SGBH.

The Rio Terminal Substation is operated by Xingu-Rio Transmissora de Energia (XRTE), a wholly owned subsidiary of State Grid Brazil Holding. The transmission line connecting the state of Pará to Rio de Janeiro is the world's longest 800kV ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission line, measuring 2,539km in length and crossing approximately 80 municipalities in the states of Pará, Tocantins, Goiás, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro.
