Rio de Janeiro – The State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) released its social responsibility report, highlighting the group's main actions in Brazil in 2020. In Brazil, the company has operated through State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH) since 2010, CPFL Energia, NARI Brasil, and CTG Brazil. The document, which follows the GRI Standards reporting model, highlights the work of SGBH and CPFL, with a joint contribution of R$12 million in donations to combat COVID-19 and an additional R$33 million in social initiatives.
Classified as essential services, State Grid Brazil Holding and CPFL continued their operations throughout the year, taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of their employees. Committed to the long-term development of the Brazilian electricity sector and aware of their important role in Brazilian society, the companies reinvented themselves in the face of the pandemic.
In 2020, SGBH completed its first decade in Brazil, occupying a prominent position among the largest companies in the electricity sector. In a year of challenges imposed by the new reality, the company guaranteed the donation of basic food baskets for vulnerable families, as well as hospital beds and equipment, which remained as a legacy for the public health system. In addition to these actions, it distributed COVID-19 tests and masks, essential in the fight against the coronavirus.
“We are committed to sustainable business development and creating value for society, always striving for a better future. Faced with the challenges of 2020, we continue to offer more than just a top-quality power transmission system, more than the operational excellence of SGBH; we offer our care and respect for people..”, says Lyu Shirong, chairman of SGBH.
The SGCC report also addresses key issues for the group's companies, such as environmental preservation and the importance of finding solutions that optimize projects and protect biodiversity. It also highlights the importance of workplace safety methodology and the implementation of modern Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (ULC) line technology in SGBH's operations.
