The 2024 China-Latin America and the Caribbean Media Cooperation Forum, held in Rio de Janeiro this Wednesday (16/10), brought together representatives from 13 countries, with the participation of Hu Guo, vice president of the People's Daily; minister of the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, Li Yongzhong; Vice President of the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro and President of the Brazil-China Parliamentary Front (Rio de Janeiro, Tia Ju; Marcos de Oliveira, CEO of Monitor Mercantil and Letícia Sander, executive editor of O Globo, among other members of the media and companies and embassy delegates.
After the opening speeches session, in which initiatives for mutual cooperation and reciprocal learning among the countries participating in the forum were reinforced, the Regional Convocation Ceremony of the Silk Road Award for International Communication and the Launch of “Cases” of the Joint Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative – Community of Destiny Latin America were held.
State Grid was highlighted among the cases that demonstrate the practice of cooperation and mutual benefits and joint development between the parties involved in building the community of shared future between China and Latin America, through the development of the Belo Monte transmission systems, which contribute to the transportation of energy in Ultra-High Voltage Direct Current (UATCC) bipoles at 800kV, technology developed in China and implemented by SGBH in Brazil, and which contributes to the strengthening of the SIN, in the transmission of energy from renewable sources.

By implementing major concession projects such as Phase I and II of the Belo Monte UATCC, we have actively promoted cooperation and exchanges between China and Brazil in transmission technology, equipment and standards. This has boosted the development of Brazil’s local power, electrical equipment and raw material industries, achieving mutual benefit and win-win cooperation between China and Brazil. – said Sun Tao.
In the year in which 50 years of diplomatic relations between Brazil and China are being celebrated, and Rio de Janeiro is preparing to welcome the head of state for the G-20 Summit in November, Mr. Sun Tao announced, as part of the planned social responsibility and cultural promotion activities, the “China-Brazil Friendship Garden” project at the Rio Botanical Garden and a tour of the Beijing National Opera in Brazil.
