Xingu Rio Transmissora de Energia (XRTE) and Belo Monte Transmissora de Energia (BMTE) won, respectively, first and second place in the ONS Operational Quality Award, in the "Direct Current" category. The awards ceremony, held in Rio de Janeiro on October 1st, recognizes the transmission companies as the best in Brazil.
The award was granted by the National Electric System Operator (ONS). The main evaluation criterion was the operational availability of transmission equipment, a key factor in ensuring the quality and security of the energy supply.
XRTE is operated by State Grid Brazil Holding (SGBH) and is the world's largest ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission line at 800 kV. BMTE is a partnership established over ten years ago between SGBH, Furnas, and Eletronorte, responsible for integrating the energy generated by the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant in Pará into the National Interconnected System (SIN).
"XRTE and BMTE have been providing high-quality service to the Brazilian electrical system, demonstrating how Chinese and Brazilian professionals can work together to achieve results that go beyond technical excellence. This was the first edition ONS Operational Quality Award, which will now be held annually. The awards will honor transmission companies that achieve the best performance in the Alternating Current and Direct Current networks.
"We are very proud to receive this award, especially since it's the first time we've received it, which gives even greater importance to the results achieved. Other companies will certainly receive this recognition in the coming years, but the first will forever belong to State Grid," added Ramon.
